Course aim: This course helps students understand how the built environment is created, and how scientific, mathematical, and design decisions shape the places where people live, learn, work, and play. Students explore the systems, structures, materials, and forces that make buildings and communities function, and learn how engineers and designers solve problems through measurement, creativity, and critical thinking.
By engaging in hands-on investigations that culminate in a design project, students gain foundational literacy in construction science and the engineering design process, preparing them to think like builders, problem-solvers, and stewards of the built world.
This project is generously supported by industry sponsors and a grant from Career Connect Washington.
Supporting CPC means introducing thousands of students to the industry and building your future workforce. Sponsorship provides curriculum, teacher training, and individual school support, and opportunities to engage directly with schools and students.

Fall 2026: Middle School Core Plus Construction Frameworks Are Now Available
The Middle School Core Plus Construction frameworks are complete! The frameworks have been reviewed and approved by OSPI, and are now ready for districts to begin implementing.
The two, 90-hour frameworks introduce students to the built environment through hands-on, project-based learning while providing districts with a structured approach to expanding construction education at the middle-school level.
The frameworks are available upon request, and we would love to send them to you. If your district is considering Middle School Core Plus Construction, let us help you get started. We’re happy to meet with your team to walk through the frameworks, answer questions, discuss classroom and shop space, talk through implementation logistics, and help you determine what offering the courses could look like in your district.
Whether you are ready to move forward or are simply exploring what might be possible, please reach out. We would love to work through it with you!
